Smooth Sailing - The Timeless Allure of Yacht Rock
Boarding doesn't have to be taken literally, during this musical day program Wouter van der Goes and Diederik van Vleuten take you on a atmospheric journey through the world of Yacht Rock: the elegantly produced, silky smooth pop music from the late '70s and early '80s that has since gained a cult status.
Through carefully selected sound clips, Wouter and Diederik share their personal love for the genre. From audience favorites like Christopher Cross and Toto, to deeper cuts and forgotten gems. Special attention is given to Steely Dan, the enigmatic and hyper-musical duo that with their layered compositions, cynical lyrics, and jazzy grooves form the intellectual core of Yacht Rock

In between listening to the songs, we will talk with Spinvis, led by Menno Pot, about the creation of this album. After this special listening experience, there will be a signing session in the foyer of the PHIL.
