Verhalende liedjes, Vergeet mij nietjes!

A vinyltour along the care centers of Haarlem.

Music is communication and experience. Many songs have a personal story. How often do you hear the lines 'I was at their first concert, I still remember buying that record'. Music is a constant value in the rituals of life. Music is a powerful tool, especially for the elderly with dementia. Research has shown that music can improve memory, mood, and social interaction. Music has a unique way of connecting with emotions and memories, even when cognitive pieces are affected. Familiar songs can evoke memories and activate positive emotions through recognition.

The Haarlem Vinyl Festival, together with the Kennemerhart Foundation and the Antonius Community, organizes a vinyl tour along three care centers in Haarlem. The DJs from Plaatjes Vullen Gaatjes will visit De Blinkert, Schoterhof, and the Janskliniek on Friday afternoon to give the vinyl a good dusting off! This afternoon we will go back in time, but it certainly won't be old-fashioned! Maybe we'll sing along loudly to 'I Can Get No Satisfaction' by the Stones or 'Rockin' In A Free World'. After all, Mick Jagger and Neil Young are already in their eighties.

On Friday, September 26, we will be at De Blinkert from 13:30 to 14:30, at Schoterhof from 15:00 to 16:00, and at the Janskliniek from 16:30 to 17:30.
