Thomas Azier

Thomas Azier brings PANORAMA to Haarlem Vinyl Festival: a cinematic and deeply personal new project connecting pop, performance, field recordings, poetry and visual art.

After three years of relative silence, Dutch composer, producer and singer Thomas Azier returns with PANORAMA. Known for his distinctive artistic vision, Azier has previously received two Edison Awards, the German Record Critics’ Award for his second album Rouge and a Berlin Music Video Award for Verwandlung.

PANORAMA unfolds as a mosaic of music, text and image. Azier’s melodic and melancholic sound is combined with string arrangements, experimental techniques and recordings that seem to surface from a disappearing world.

On stage, the project takes shape together with synthesist Annelotte Coster, saxophonist Maarten Hogenhuis and a string section. The performance moves through a series of cinematic scenes: the voice of a lost beluga whale swimming through the Seine, an opera singer emerging from the audience and poetry depicting a solitary boy in an abandoned Parisian summer.
