Chansonnière of the Low Countries with string quartet.
The first time Tess Merlot heard Jacques Brel, lightning struck. Since then, the music hasn't stopped: she formed the band Tess et les Moutons and hundreds of shows later, every performance still revolves around the essence: pulling the human soul to the surface as only the French chanson can. Featuring originals from Brel, Piaf, and Aznavour, as well as her own work.
Since her debut album Laissez-moi in 2021, Tess Merlot has become the chansonnière of the Low Countries. She toured the country with her band and in November 2023, she performed with the Residentie Orkest in a sold-out PAARD in The Hague. In addition, she hosts podcasts and radio programs about French music and is regularly invited on national TV and radio to share her love for the chanson. The year 2023 took her across borders, where she found a new audience in France, Germany, and Belgium, as well as selling out the famous Ellington Jazz Club in Perth, Australia.
Whether Tess performs in a small ensemble, with her full band, or a complete orchestra, she does so with an irresistible joie de vivre and boundless energy.
