A genre-bending sound that drifts between indie, liquid drum & bass, synth, and hyperpop.
Named after a mythic vanishing planet, Istanbul-raised and Rotterdam-based artist Min Taka explores her inner world through a genre-bending sound that drifts between indie, liquid drum & bass, synth, and hyperpop. Her music reflects on identity, belonging, femininity, and human connection—ranging from soft intimacy to intense electronic bursts.
Drawing inspiration from artists like Mitski, Sassy 009, Cocteau Twins, Kero Kero Bonito, and Charli XCX, Min Taka has released several singles and her debut EP Partiyi Durdurun! in December 2023, with a full album on the way.
We’re excited to welcome her to Patronaat on the Friday of Haarlem Vinyl Festival—fingers crossed for a signed copy of her latest release on the way out.
The Amsterdam indie band MICH guarantees a mix of new wave and melancholic post-punk to indulge in. Their fourth album 'Chair' was released last April and the band is feeling the spring vibe. On Friday, September 26, they will perform at Patronaat during the Haarlem Vinyl Festival.
Even in doom-pop, there is cheerfulness. The fourth album of this wonderful new wave band was, like its predecessors, created in complete isolation from each other. Without consultation or explanation, as you might expect from this band. MICH remains the least communicative band in the Netherlands and beyond, but that is precisely what makes them so intriguing. The sound of Chair is more sultry, complex, and layered than what we are used to from them. All with a sharp resistance to the ubiquitous enthusiasm in today's world.
The music of MICH sounds like driving in an old Fiat Panda with the windows down on a too hot summer evening on an Italian highway in 1992. This band, consisting of Piet Parra, Sofie Winterson, Bastiaan Bosma, Rimer London, Mick Johan, Benny Komala, and Barend Brieffies, forms a colorful group in black and white. MICH is a band like no other, or maybe... but does it matter?
Big tip for fans of Saada Bonaire, ESG & Liquid Liquid. Most essential 2024 Post-punk, disco-no-disco release.
Tickets are available via Patronaat. Entry is also included with the Haarlem Vinyl Festival Weekend Pass.
