Doug Pinnick, Ty Tabor and Jerry Gaskill have formed the influential metal trio King’s X since the 1980s. Originally founded in Austin, Texas as a Christian rock band, they soon moved beyond that label and developed a groundbreaking sound that earned them a devoted following around the world.

King’s X is often described as a musician’s band, admired by artists across generations. Blaudzun is one of those fans: “Doug Pinnick is a legend.” During this personal listening session, he explores what King’s X has meant to his own musical development.

Expect some of the band’s finest songs and some personal notes from the band. King’s X remains active today, with their latest album, Three Sides of One, released to critical acclaim in 2022.
