Doug Pinnick, Ty Tabor and Jerry Gaskill have formed the influential metal trio King’s X since the 1980s. Originally founded in Austin, Texas as a Christian rock band, they soon moved beyond that label and developed a groundbreaking sound that earned them a devoted following around the world.

King’s X is often described as a musician’s band, admired by artists across generations. Blaudzun is one of those fans: “Doug Pinnick is a legend.” During this personal listening session, he explores what King’s X has meant to his own musical development.

Expect some of the band’s finest songs, personal stories and perhaps even an appearance in the conversation from frontman and bassist Doug Pinnick. King’s X remains active today, with their latest album, Three Sides of One, released to critical acclaim in 2022.
