From "One For The Mrs". to the present: 15 years of music, songs, and production - Chef'Special

How do you write an album that tells a story? When do you know a song is finished? How do you translate an idea from your mind into a recording that resonates with people? And what actually happens behind the scenes during the production, recording, and mixing of an album?

At the Haarlem Vinyl Festival, Guido Joseph and Jasper Zuidervaart will engage in a conversation about their shared musical journey and take you behind the scenes of album making.

Exactly 15 years ago, their paths began to converge during the creation of One For The Mrs., the debut album of Chef'Special. What followed was a special creative collaboration that evolved in parallel with the band's own growth. From the first songs and recordings to albums, hits, international tours, and award-winning productions.

Guido Joseph is a songwriter and producer, and as a composer of Chef'Special, he has been closely involved in writing and producing the music that shaped the band. His work can be heard on songs such as In Your Arms, Afraid Of The Dark, Amigo, and Speed of Light. Additionally, he has collaborated with artists like Kris Berry, Altin Gün, Teske, and La Pegatina.

Jasper Zuidervaart is a producer, engineer, mixer, musician, and songwriter. He has worked with a wide range of artists, including Winne, Armin van Buuren, Jeangu Macrooy, Jack & The Weatherman, and of course Chef'Special. With multiple gold and platinum records to his name and productions that have been honored with awards such as an Edison and State Award, he has evolved into a versatile creator with a keen ear for both the big picture and the smallest details.

During this seminar, Guido and Jasper will share their insights on music, songwriting, arrangements, production, and the creative process behind an album. Expect not a fixed roadmap, but an open conversation about choices, doubt, inspiration, collaboration, and the quest for that one moment when everything comes together.
For enthusiasts who want to delve even deeper, there will of course be room for the technical aspects: from recording and producing to engineering and mixing.
A unique opportunity to peek in – and above all, to listen along – with two creators who have shared a joint musical history for 15 years.

Later that day, the circle will be completed when Chef'Special takes the stage at the Philharmonie during the Haarlem Vinyl Festival.

Chef’Special ticket holders can claim a free ticket for this session.
