The singles soared immediately: “Espresso” became the summer hit, “Please Please Please” became her very first number 1 hit in the US and the UK, and “Taste” also climbed the charts.

Not only were the fans sold; the critics were also enthusiastic. The album shot to number 1 on the Billboard 200, went platinum in multiple countries, and even earned her a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. However, Short n’ Sweet is more than just success: it is a clever, flirtatious, and humorous pop record that plays with themes such as love, confidence, and a touch of sarcasm.
