Composer and conductor Tyn Wybenga and guitarist Teis Semey take you behind the scenes of Tonepool Paradox, the new vinyl album by Brainteaser Orchestra.
Wybenga is one of the distinctive voices in contemporary Dutch jazz, bringing together influences from hip-hop, classical music, South African music and improvisation. With Brainteaser Orchestra, his compositions draw heavily on sampling and electronics, creating a sound that constantly shifts between genres and musical traditions.
During this session, Wybenga and Semey dive into the making of Tonepool Paradox and their reimagining of Pat Metheny’s landmark album Bright Size Life, which they performed together with Metheny at North Sea Jazz Festival in July 2026.
Through vinyl sampling, reversing and live composition, they demonstrate how existing sounds and musical ideas can be broken apart, transformed and rebuilt into something new.
Part making-of, part listening party: an inside look at the creative process behind Brainteaser Orchestra.
