Audio-Technica presenteert: A Brief History of Japanese Reggae Pop

Kay Suzuki of the Time Capsule label takes us on a journey through Tokyo Riddim, exploring how Jamaican and British reggae travelled to Japan throughout the ’70s and ’80s and helped shape the country’s distinctive reggae-pop, lovers rock and city pop sounds with records from his collection played along the way.

The session is hosted by Kay Suzuki, a Japanese-born, London-based DJ, producer and curator, and founder of Time Capsule: an independent record label and cultural publishing platform focused on overlooked music and deep listening. Through reissues, compilations, publishing and listening events, his work connects music with the cultural histories and ideas held inside the records.

Presented by Audio-Technica.
