After the previously announced World Protest Song Day on Friday and vinyl city walk on Saturday, we continue with a well-loved HVF guest. In 2023, we already listened in the dark to his album Be-Bop-A-Lula, but on Sunday, September 28, fans of the very first Spinvis can indulge.
In the Kleine Zaal of PHIL, we will listen together to the first album of Spinvis, which was released in 2002. This idiosyncratic record grew into one of the most influential Dutch-language debuts of the past decades.
With songs like Voor Ik Vergeet and Bagagedrager Spinvis introduced a new sound: poetic, dreamy, and personal. Before I forget later became a regular in the Top 2000, and the album itself was praised by critics and audiences for its unique tone. Spinvis once said about making it: “I had no plan. Just a few songs and an old recorder. The rest happened naturally.”
In between listening to the songs, we will talk with Spinvis under the guidance of Menno Pot about the creation of this album. After this special listening experience, there will be a signing session in the foyer of PHIL, and in the evening, Spinvis will perform with his band.
