Local Talent alongside International Heavyweights: A Closer Look at the Vinyl-Only Night Program

24 September 2025

No Haarlem Vinyl Festival days without the nights! Nothing beats a good old dance floor with the crisp sound and excitement of a vinyl DJ set. That’s why we asked Daan Knijnenburg of Patronaat to share what he has in store for you.

“True vinyl lovers know that vinyl and the night are inseparable. For decades, the dance floor has been used to write history, with music as the pen. In the queer clubs of Chicago and New York, house gave a voice to freedom and community, while in Detroit, techno grew into a futuristic vision in sound. Locally too, the night has always formed subcultures, brought people closer to each other and to themselves, and sparked new ideas. Vinyl has made that special feeling of the dance floor tangible.

That’s why nightly adventures are certainly not to be missed during the Haarlem Vinyl Festival. Once again, we have a fine selection of club nights at Patronaat and CLUB3 that embody the relationship between vinyl and the dance floor. A mix of international heavyweights and local talent.

On Friday evening, Jim Barron of Crazy P comes to Patronaat for a special DJ set, representing the characteristic blend of disco, house, funk, and soul that has made the group iconic. It’s immediately a danceable tribute to the late frontwoman Danielle Moore, who passed away last year, and whose warm and iconic voice we will undoubtedly hear over the speakers. Amsterdam producer and DJ FIGI will warm us up with his infectious mix of spacey funk and playful grooves, and club favorite Kyra Khaldi will close with a powerful burst of energy that will surely shake Patronaat’s Stage 2.

“True vinyl lovers know that vinyl and the night are inseparable.”

Just a few meters away, the new Haarlem collective PURESOUNDS takes over CLUB3 with, in their own words, “nothing but pure house.” The young collective is a perfect example of fresh faces bringing new energy to Haarlem’s nightlife, something we aim to give as much space to as possible in CLUB3. We invite “co-creators” to join us in developing and growing their ideas for Haarlem’s nightlife. Alongside their own residents, PURESOUNDS has invited Carlos Valdes, who has been an indispensable force in Amsterdam’s nightlife for 20 years-not only as a DJ with a monster record collection, but also as the organizer of the iconic queer party IsBurning. And in the intimate setting of CLUB3? Quite a treat, if you ask me.

On Saturday, it’s Funky Vinyl’s turn to take things up a notch. DJ Bone needs little introduction - the Detroit legend is known for his fierce and raw record selection and unmistakable skills behind the decks. Nastia is one of the most sought-after DJs of the moment. From Ukraine, she grew into a worldwide name thanks to her energetic, versatile sets in which techno, house, and electro blend seamlessly. She hasn’t played a full vinyl set since 2021, so this is not to be missed!”

There’s more electronic music to enjoy during the festival, with vinyl-only DJ sets at Houtbaar on Friday, Italo-disco by Rimini Express on at PHIL Café on Saturday afternoon and the Zwarte Liefde ft. Rob Manga take-over at Jopenkerk on Friday night.
