Introducing the Bring Your Own Vinyl Market and the Best Basslines in Pop Music

15 May 2025

Make your way to PHIL on Sunday to connect with collectors and to hear the best basslines of all time.

Following up on recent announcements like the first selection of artists and Stephen Lipson's highly anticipated session we continue with more program at our homebase PHIL.

The Haarlem Record Label Market (HRLM) returns in this year's program, running on Saturday and Sunday in the PHIL foyer. New to the program is Sunday's Bring Your Own Vinyl Market — a community-driven space where you can swap records, share stories, and discover rare finds. Whether you're hunting for a hidden gem, offering up duplicates, or just curious about other people's musical treasures, this open exchange promises surprises and good vibes.

Just like last year, you'll have the chance to sit down and listen to your newly appraised records at our listening stations.

Main Festival Hub and More Crate Digging at PHIL

With its central location near the Grote Markt, PHIL serves as the main festival hub and the beating heart of the Haarlem Vinyl Festival. Throughout the weekend, PHIL will be packed with activity. Expect interactive listening sessions, artist Q&As, signing sessions, art exhibitions, and presentations exploring both the legacy and future of vinyl culture.

Best of all? Just like at the Record Fair at Dreef, walk-in access is free. While some concerts or sessions may require tickets, the PHIL foyer remains open to all — and yes, you'll have the chance to get your hands on some seriously rare records.

Special Highlight: Danny van Tiggele's Bassline Session

Don't miss Danny van Tiggele's interactive session on Sunday at PHIL Café, diving into the most legendary basslines of all time. Danny — best known as the guitarist for Mister and Mississippi and now bassist for artists like Blaudzun, Yorick van Norden, and TOUSCH — brings a wealth of experience and passion.

After graduating from the Herman Brood Academie, Danny toured internationally, played iconic festivals like Lowlands and SXSW, and earned accolades including two 3FM Awards and an Edison for his band's debut album. His recent project, La Belle Époque, unites a diverse group of Dutch artists such as Spike (DI-RECT), Tessa Douwstra, Camiel Meiresonne (Son Mieux), Ruben Hein, and more. Danny is also a dedicated coach at Conservatorium Haarlem and involved in development programs like Hit the North, Popsport, and Kunstbende.

His session promises to be both inspiring and ear-opening — whether you're a musician or simply fascinated by the groove.
Time to be announced.
